Job Description

Cisco Enterprise DevOps as a Service (EDaaS) is seeking a Full Stack Developer to design and build platforms that elevate the Developer Experience (DevEx) across the enterprise. This role focuses on creating intuitive, scalable, and secure platforms that streamline engineering workflows, improve productivity, and provide developers with seamless access to the tools and services they need.

The ideal candidate has expertise in frontend and backend engineering, with strong skills in modern frameworks, APIs, and cloud-native architectures. You will work closely with product owners, DevOps engineers, and platform teams to deliver solutions that optimize onboarding, CI/CD pipelines, and end-to-end developer workflows.

Your Impact

  • Frontend Engineering โ€“ Build intuitive, responsive UIs using frameworks such as React to simplify workflows and dashboards.
  • Backend Engineering โ€“ Develop APIs and microservices in Java, Golang, or Node.js, ensuring scalability and secure integrations.
  • Platform Development โ€“ Design and implement applications that provide a unified developer experience across tools and services.
  • Toolchain Integration โ€“ Connect DevEx platforms with DevOps tools (GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, Artifactory, ArgoCD) to enable frictionless developer workflows.
  • Developer Portals โ€“ Contribute to or build internal developer portals that centralize access to documentation, environments, pipelines, and observability.
  • Security & Guardrails โ€“ Implement secure authentication, role-based access, and compliance guardrails for all developer-facing services.
  • Observability & Metrics โ€“ Build monitoring dashboards to track platform adoption, usage trends, and performance.
  • Collaboration โ€“ Partner with product owners, platform engineers, and end-users to iterate quickly on features that directly improve DevEx.
  • Documentation โ€“ Deliver clear technical documentation and self-service guides to empower developers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role.
  • Proficiency in frontend frameworks (React, Angular) and backend development (Java, Go).
  • Proficiency in database technologies such as Mongo, Postgres, Redis
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs and integrating with external systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
  • Strong understanding of web security, authentication, and access control.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to deliver in fast-paced environments.

Desired Skills

  • Experience building developer portals (e.g., Backstage, custom platforms).
  • Exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
  • Knowledge of API gateways, service meshes, and distributed architectures.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries and dashboarding.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or internal developer tools.

Key Competencies

  • Developer-Centric Mindset โ€“ Passion for improving developer workflows and productivity.
  • Full Stack Expertise โ€“ Ability to move seamlessly between frontend and backend tasks.
  • Execution Excellence โ€“ Deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly platforms.
  • Collaboration โ€“ Work effectively with engineers, designers, and product managers.
  • Innovation โ€“ Drive creative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce friction for developers

Interview Questions

  • How would you design a full stack โ€œdeveloper portalโ€ that centralizes access to repos, pipelines, environments, and documentation?
  • Describe building a React-based dashboard that shows CI/CD pipeline health and deployment status; how do you structure components and state?
  • Explain designing and implementing a Java/Go microservice that exposes REST APIs for onboarding new services into a DevEx platform.
  • How would you integrate tools like GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and Jira into a unified workflow for developers?
  • What strategies do you use to secure internal developer tools (auth, RBAC, API gateways, secret management)?
  • Describe modeling data for a platform that tracks services, owners, pipelines, and environments using Postgres or MongoDB.
  • How do you use Docker and Kubernetes to package and deploy full stack applications in a cloud-native environment?
  • Explain how youโ€™d add observability (metrics, logs, traces) and build Grafana/ELK-style dashboards to monitor DevEx platform adoption and performance.
  • Give an example of reducing friction in a developer workflow through automation or better UXโ€”what impact did it have?
  • How do you collaborate with product owners and platform engineers to iteratively ship features while maintaining reliability and usability?

Selection process

  • Profile shortlisting for BE/BTech plus 1โ€“3 years full stack experience and exposure to DevOps/CI-CD tooling.
  • Technical rounds on JavaScript/React, backend APIs in Java/Go, database design, and cloud/container fundamentals.
  • Architecture/system design discussion focused on developer portals, internal platforms, and integrating multiple DevOps tools.
  • Behavioral round assessing collaboration with engineers and PMs, developer-centric thinking, and ability to deliver in fast-paced platform teams.

Pro Tip

Prepare a portfolio project where you:

  • Build a simple internal โ€œservice catalogโ€ or developer portal using React + Java/Go with a database (Postgres/Mongo).
  • Integrate at least one CI/CD or DevOps tool (e.g., pull data from GitHub or a dummy Jenkins API) and add basic RBAC and dashboards.
  • Be ready to walk through your architecture, security approach, and how your design improves developer productivity and reduces onboarding friction.
