Introduction to the Team:
In B2B, we bring Expedia Group’s innovative technology and distribution solutions to partners across the world. These businesses include global financial institutions, corporate managed travel, offline travel agents, global travel suppliers (like major airlines) and many more.
As a Software Development Engineer I you will be a contributing team member working alongside experienced engineers to build and maintain the technology that powers our global B2B partner ecosystem. You will grow your technical expertise, collaborate on meaningful projects, and feel empowered to challenge the status quo from day one.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with team members to co-develop solutions and solve technical challenges on complex projects.
- Develop and test software applications, programs, and procedures to ensure they meet design requirements.
- Apply software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, modular, and optimized.
- Support the integration of systems and technologies, understanding the features and processes involved.
- Proactively build relationships with peers across the organization to collaborate and solve problems.
- Seek knowledge from subject matter experts and pursue opportunities to develop technical expertise in a specific engineering area.
- Support the implementation of holistic solutions that connect structure, people, process, and technology.
- Communicate clearly on current work status and ask thoughtful, challenging questions when appropriate.
Experience and Qualifications
- 6 months–2 years of professional software development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience building at least 3 software projects independently.
- Proficiency in Java or Scala
- Understanding of data patterns and storage concepts.
- Familiarity with software development theory and design principles.
- Basic understanding of testing, monitoring, and debugging practices.
- Understanding of how team goals align with broader business needs.
