Interview Questions

  • How would you design and implement a RESTful API in Go for a simple microservice?
  • Explain how AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and SQS work together in an event-driven architecture.
  • When would you choose DynamoDB over Amazon RDS (PostgreSQL), and why?
  • Describe how you would structure Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK or CloudFormation for this service.
  • How do you design unit, integration, and performance tests for a backend service?
  • Explain the AWS Well-Architected Framework pillars and how they influence your design.
  • Walk through a CI/CD pipeline you would build for a Go microservice on AWS.
  • How do you handle secure storage of secrets and configuration in AWS?
  • Describe a debugging scenario where you traced a production issue in a distributed system.
  • Why are you interested in building cloud-native services at Cyient?

Selection process

  • Online/HR screening: check for BE/BTech eligibility, 0–2 years experience, and cloud/backend skills.
  • Technical assessment: online coding (DSA + basic Go/any backend language) and possibly a small API or design task.
  • Technical interviews: 1–2 rounds on Golang/Java, AWS services, REST, databases, and testing/CI/CD scenarios.
  • Managerial/HR round: cultural fit, project discussions, expectations, and location/shift flexibility.

Pro tip

Prepare one solid end-to-end project using Go (or another backend language) on AWS: design APIs, use Lambda + API Gateway, persist to RDS/DynamoDB, and automate deployment with a simple CDK/CloudFormation pipeline. In interviews, narrate architecture, trade-offs (cost, performance, reliability), and how you tested and monitored the service.
